At Tea Traders we are always excited to source high quality single origin teas to add to our range ... We are delighted to add Directors Cut Ceylon Tea from the Devagiri Estate in Sri Lanka to our range of carefully sourced black teas. Harvested and produced at the family owned Devagiri tea estate in Sri Lanka, this is an excellent orthodox ‘Tippy’ style black tea with a robust, easy drinking flavour that is great with milk. The name 'Directors Cut' was given because this fine orthodox black tea is a personal favourite with the Directors of the family business! 

Established in 1947 by Francis Nanayakkara (a native Sri Lankan), the family owned Devagiri tea estate and tea factory has produced fine quality leaf teas for over 75 years.

Devagiri is in the Southern province of Sri Lanka, in a village called Yakkalamulla. It is uniquely positioned next to the Kottawa rainforest making its soil rich in naturally occurring nutrients and creating an exceptional terroir ideal for high quality tea production.

Still owned by the same family, the business is now run by Francis's granddaughter Rosh, and her partner Mike. The focus is still on producing high quality teas, and providing secure employment for the many family members, and members of the local community, who are employed on the estate. 

Rosh & Mike are committed to securing the future of the Devagiri estate to ensure the economic well-being of the community, and unlock social mobility for the next generation.
