Chai Masala Spiced Tea
Chai Masala Spiced Tea is a delicious gently spiced aromatic black tea. A classic chai blend of black tea, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, aroma, cloves, and red peppercorns. Originating in India, this popular Chai tea blend of Indian black tea and Masala Chai spices is now enjoyed around the world.
Ingredients: Black tea, cardamom pods, cinnamon, ginger, aroma, cloves, and red peppercorns. May contain traces of nuts.
Origin: India
Note: 'Chai Latte' has become a popular drink in recent years. The 'Instant' powdered version of 'Chai Latte' is commonly served in coffee chains and fast food outlets. This is often made with a flavoured powder containing a small amount of tea, spices, and lots of sugar. For an authentic Chai tea experience, or a luxury Chai Latte at home, avoid the powders and always use genuine loose leaf Chai Masala Spiced Black Tea.
There are numerous ways to brew and enjoy this spiced tea blend at home ... See below for a few brewing suggestions.
How to Brew Chai Tea
Option 1: Western style Chai Tea - Brew the Chai Masala tea in freshly boiled water for 3-5 minutes in the same way as other black teas. Enjoy with or without a dash of milk.
Option 2: Authentic Indian Masala Chai - Add milk to a small saucepan. Add 2-3 spoons of Chai Masala tea leaves per person. Heat the milk until simmering. Turn down the heat and let the tea infuse gently for a further 2-3 minutes. Add texture to the drink by foaming the tea with a hand blender (optional). Pour into drinking cups, using a tea strainer to catch the leaves. Sprinkle with cinnamon or add sugar to taste if desired.
Option 3: Creamy Chai ... For an even richer and creamier Chai try replacing the milk with a can of evaporated milk, or if you're feeling adventurous why not experiment with milk alternatives such as Oat milk or Coconut Milk.
Option 4: Dirty Chai - This option has become popular with some coffee drinkers as it combines Chai Latte with an extra caffeine hit from the addition of a shot of espresso coffee. Prepare the Chai tea as per Option 2, then add a shot of espresso coffee before serving.
