Silver Needles - Finest White Tea -  One of the world's finest, most celebrated, (and often most expensive), White teas. 

Silver Needles is traditionally sourced from Fujian province in China. In recent years a small number of artisan growers outside China have started to produce their own high quality versions.

Our friends at the Devagiri Tea Estate in Sri Lanka have created this wonderful example from carefully selected tea plants on their estate. By sourcing teas from the Devagiri Estate we are directly supporting the work that they do to improve the livelihood of their staff and the local community. 

The buds are carefully harvested by hand from the top of each bush during a short picking season in early Spring and undergo minimal processing. The leaves are finely spread onto drying racks and left to wither and dry quickly to minimise the risk of oxidation. The result is a deliciously light, complex, and delicate infusion. The quality of this tea compares very well with the classic Chinese Silver Needles tea we have purchased previously, with good depth and slight peppery notes. 

The large leaves are traditionally brewed using the Gong Fu method but also suitable for Western style brewing. Leaves can be re-infused multiple times.
