Matcha Spoon - A traditional bamboo spoon, also known as a Chashaku - Used for preparing Japanese Matcha tea.
How to Prepare Matcha Tea:
Matcha is a 'short' drink. A common method of preparation is as follows: About 2-4 g of matcha powder is placed into a matcha bowl - Chawan - traditionally using a bamboo spoon called a Chashaku, and then about 60–80 ml of hot water at 80 -95 c is added. The mixture is then whisked briskly using a figure of 'W' movement to create a light foam, using the bamboo whisk - Chasen. The drink can be sipped, or consumed in one go.
Tip: You may need to experiment to perfect your technique and find the method that works best for you. Try varying the amount of matcha powder (1g to 4g) and the water temperature (60 to 95c) to find the strength of flavour and consistency that you personally enjoy.
Matcha has an intense, slightly bitter flavour, rich in umami, and is commonly consumed alongside traditional Japanese sweets to offset the astringency.
Matcha Bowl - Chawan and Matcha Whisk - Chasen are available separately.
