Our friendly, award-winning tea shop is a great place to meet up for lunch or afternoon tea in Carmarthen. Our freshly prepared food and drink menu includes traditional tea shop favourites. Explore our delicious selection of tea, coffee, homemade cake and freshly prepared snacks using locally sourced ingredients.
With over 100 leaf teas to choose from tea lovers will enjoy sampling delicious teas from our extensive range of traditional and speciality leaf teas. Browse our tea-menu, or ask us for recommendations! Coffee drinkers are also well catered for. We use freshly ground 100% Arabica Fairtrade coffee beans and serve Americano, Cappucino, Flat White, Latte, Mocha, Macciato, and Espresso. Our milk options include Semi-skimmed, Oat, and Soya.
Our Breakfast menu is served until 12 noon and includes simple snacks such as hot buttered toast with Welsh salted butter and marmalade, or why not treat yourself to a toasted teacake or a couple of crumpets. For an indulgent treat our hearty bacon baguettes are hard to beat, whilst customers with a sweet tooth will find our Portuguese custard tarts hard to resist.
Lunch options include freshly prepared sandwiches and toasties made with locally sourced ingredients, served with an optional side salad or crisps. Between September and May there's nothing better than a warming bowl of our traditional Cawl soup made with seasonal root vegetables and served with a crusty roll and a wedge of Welsh Cheddar cheese. If you'd prefer something lighter our seasonal salads are a great choice: Choose from a traditional Ploughman's lunch, pate & toast, or a fresh salad with quiche or a savoury pastry.Gluten free and Vegan options are also available.
Homemade cakes are a Tea Traders speciality. Freshly baked in-store there's always a wide range of cakes available including classics such as Victoria Sponge and Carrot Cake, traditional Welsh Bara Brith fruit cake, our best selling Honey and Ginger cake, and of course the ever popular Scone with jam and Welsh Clotted Cream. A selection of gluten free, dairy free, and vegan cakes are available daily.
If you're celebrating with friends our traditional Mamgu's Afternoon Tea is an indulgent treat. Walk in and select the Afternoon Tea from our menu, or call ahead and reserve a table. If you're celebrating with friends why not purchase an Afternoon Tea Gift Voucher from our on-line store.

Do You Sell Gift Vouchers for Afternoon Tea?
Yes. You can purchase gift vouchers for Afternoon Tea from our online store, or call in and purchase them in-store.
Do I need to make a reservation for Afternoon Tea?
It's advisable to make a reservation for Afternoon Tea, but you are also welcome to walk-in and select Afternoon Tea as an option from our Daily Menu.
What is included in Afternoon Tea?
Our Afternoon Tea for two includes a selection of sandwiches, crisps, scones with jam and cream, a selection of sweet treats and homemade cakes, and a pot of tea or coffee.

Yes of course ... All our savoury options can be served with gluten free bread and we have a daily selection of gluten free cakes

We have a limited selection of vegan options including our vegetable cawl, savoury snacks, and vegan cakes.
Taste Of Wales
Do you serve Cawl?
For a true taste of Wales there's nothing better than a bowl of Cawl with crusty bread and a wedge of mature Welsh cheese. Our traditional Carmarthenshire Cawl is made with chunky winter vegetables and served daily between September and May.
What other Welsh specialities are available?
Try a thick slice of our homemade BaraBrith fruit cake. We soak the dried fruit overnight in a pot of leaf tea which makes it extra moist. Delicious with a pot of our Welsh Breakfast tea. Find our recipe in the Blog!
Do you serve food all day?
Our breakfast items are served until Midday. We serve lunches and savoury food until 3pm daily, and cakes and drinks until 4pm.
Do you serve coffee?
Absolutely! ... We may be a tea shop, but our coffee tastes great too! Made with freshly ground Fairtrade arabica coffee beans, our range of coffees includes Americano, Cappucino, Flat White, Latte, Mocha, & Espresso. We use one shot as standard, but if you prefer two shots just let us know ... It's the same price!
