Chai Masala Spiced Tea is a delicious gently spiced aromatic black tea. A classic chai blend of black tea, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, aroma, cloves, and red peppercorns. Originating in India, this popular Chai tea blend of Indian black tea and Chai spices is now enjoyed around the world.
Ingredients: Black tea, cardamom pods, cinnamon, ginger, aroma, cloves, and red peppercorns. May contain traces of nuts.
Origin: India
Note: 'Chai Latte' has become a popular drink in recent years. The 'Instant' version of 'Chai Latte' that is commonly served in coffee chains and fast food outlets is often made with a flavoured powder containing tea, spices, and lots of sugar. For an authentic Chai tea experience, or a luxury Chai Latte at home, avoid the powders and always use genuine Chai Masala Spiced Black Tea.
There are numerous ways to brew and enjoy this spiced tea blend at home ... See below for a few brewing suggestions.
How to Brew Chai Tea
Option 1: Western style Chai Tea - Brew the Chai Masala tea in freshly boiled water for 3-5 minutes. Enjoy with or without a dash of milk.
Option 2: Authentic Indian Chai - Add 1 part milk and two parts water in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Add 2-3 spoons of Masala Chai tea leaves and boil for a further 2-3 minutes. Pour into drinking cups, using a tea strainer to catch the leaves. Add sugar to taste.
Option 3: Chai Latte ... Use a large glass of milk per person. Pour the milk into a small saucepan and place on the heat. Add 3-4 heaped teaspoons of Chai tea, or more to taste. Heat the milk to a simmering point and allow the tea to infuse the milk. Simmer for 3-4 minutes. Strain the mixture through a tea strainer / infuser into a mug or glass. Discard the tea leaves and spices and enjoy your drink. To add a smooth & frothy texture to your drink whisk the infused milk with a hand blender before serving. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon and add sugar if desired.
Option 4: Creamy Chai ... For an even richer and creamier Chai try replacing the milk with a can of evaporated milk, or if you're feeling adventurous why not experiment with milk alternatives such as Oat milk or Coconut Milk.
Option 5: Dirty Chai - This option has become popular with some coffee drinkers as it combines Chai Latte with an extra caffeine hit from the addition of a shot of espresso coffee. Prepare the Chai tea as per Option 3, then add a shot of espresso coffee before serving.
