Gyokuro - Japanese Green Tea
Gyokuro - Japanese Green Tea - An outstanding shade-grown green tea from Japan. One of the Worlds finest green teas. Gyokuro - also known as Jade Dew Tea, is highly sought after and makes up less than 0.5% of Japan's annual tea production.
The tea plants are shaded for up to 4 weeks before harvesting which increases production of chlorophyll and amino acids in the leaves giving them a deeper green colour. The leaves are carefully harvested and processed to produce the distinctive flavour and aroma. The dark green leaves produce a bright and lively, pale green, umami-rich infusion with a distinctive vegetal sweetness.
