Lapsang Souchong Tea - A classic smoked tea that divides opinion! The deep smoky flavour and aroma is beloved and disliked in equal measure!

Lapsang Souchong is an ancient black tea from Fujian province in China. In the final stage of production the tea was traditionally hung in baskets over smoking pine-wood. The smoke infused the tea and gave the tea its distinctive and intensely smoky aroma and flavour.*

Be warned, you'll either love or hate this tea! If you enjoy peaty, smoked, whisky like aromas and smoky flavours this may be just the tea for you.

*Note: The traditional process for smoking Lapsang Souchong tea produces trace amounts of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). However, nowadays Lapsang Souchong is produced using commercial production methods and as with other smoked food products the high-quality smoked teas imported to Europe undergo careful regulation to ensure these levels are well within safe limits.
