Oriental Beauty - Dongfang Meiren - Queen of Oolongs (Wulong Tea)
Oriental Beauty is a high quality, hand-rolled, whole-leaf oolong tea from Hsinchu County in Taiwan.
Also known as Champagne Oolong, White-tipped Oolong, Eastern Beauty, Dongfang Meiren and Baihao.
Recognised as one of the world's finest Oolong teas. The growing leaves are bitten by the Jassid leafhopper, an insect that feeds on the tea plant. Once bitten the leaves undergo a light oxidation and release terpenes which create a honey-like sweetness.
The distinctive white-tipped leaves are harvested and processed with immense care. The tea is highly prized for its naturally fruity and honey-like aromas and produces a sweet-tasting beverage, that is bright reddish-orange in colour, without bitterness or astringency.
