Oriental Beauty - Dongfang Meiren is a high quality, hand-rolled, whole-leaf oolong tea from Hsinchu County in Taiwan. It is also known as Queen Of Oolongs, White-tipped Oolong, Eastern Beauty and Baihao.
Recognised as one of the world's finest teas. The fine quality and delicious character of Oriental Beauty - Dongfang Meiren is widely appreciated by tea enthusiasts and makes this speciality insect-bitten Oolong tea a must try. The growing leaves are bitten by the Jassid leaf hopper, an insect that feeds on the tea plant. Once bitten the leaves undergo a light oxidation and release terpenes which create a honey-like sweetness.
The distinctive white-tipped leaves are harvested and processed with immense care. The tea is highly prized for its refreshing, naturally fruity and honey-like aromas and produces a sweet-tasting infusion that is bright reddish-orange in colour, without bitterness or astringency.
