Rooibos Tea

Rooibos, or Aspalathus linearis, is a broom-like member of the pea family Fabaceae that grows in South Africa's Fynbos biome. The leaves are used to make a refreshing caffeine-free herbal infusion with a sweet nutty flavour that has been popular in Southern Africa for generations. The plant has green needle-shaped leaves that turn a rusty red-brown colour once oxidised, hence the common names: Rooibos, and Red Bush.
Rooibos is popular for its tea-like taste and health benefits. The leaves are low in tannins and contain antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins.
Rooibos tea can be prepared in the same way as black tea, with boiling water and a 3-5 minute infusion. It can be enjoyed by itself, with milk, or a slice of lemon.
